Meet Lisa from Mud Turtles And More
What inspired you to begin a shop featuring your own designs? I first got the idea to start making things when I had kids and they needed things. Friends liked what I was doing and encouraged me to make more and here I am now! God is my first passion, and I give Him credit for everything good in my life, including the opportunity and ability to do this!
How long have you been practicing your art/craft? About 6 years
What training have you had or are you self-taught? My mom taught me some basic sewing when I was a kid, but I've figured the rest out on my own.
What is your favorite material to craft with? Leather :)
What has been the hardest aspect of creating a hobby into a business? The hardest aspect of creating a hobby into a business has been balancing raising a family and getting work done at the same time as a stay-at-home mom.
Any advice for other Etsy sellers? Pay attention to your customers! Prioritize customer service, whenever possible deliver exactly what you've promised (and more!) and communicate well! Customers have been the source of my best ideas and most profitable trends so being willing to be flexible and go with the flow of demand and their preferences has paid off.
What do you enjoy doing in your off time? I love spending time with my family and friends and being active- especially outdoors.
Describe a typical day in your life... Usually I get up and get my older child off to school, then work out and get ready for my day. After that I make some shoes or take care of other business or household things, or run other errands outside the home~ all the while having my younger child with me~ getting him a snack, stopping to play with him (or help him with something) or enjoying his company playing next to me while I work :) My husband is around in the evenings and we spend time together as a family, do other activities or I work more then.
Where can we find your products online? Etsy: mudturtlesandmore
