Nature Walk

Experiencing nature through the eyes of your child can be an enlightening and wonderful adventure, especially during the Fall season.

The perspective of nature from their height grants you a rare opportunity for you to talk with them about the changing season, to introduce the idea of the senses, a chance to communicate with your child, and a time for learning.

While you walk along with your child ask them questions about what they are seeing, smelling, hearing and feeling. Get your child to discuss the objects they have found during your walk together. Take this chance to also talk about recycling and the need for all of us to make a difference for our planet and the negative effects it has in your community and to the animals in their natural habitat.

For the older kids you might want to have a prepared list, with pictures, of different birds they can spot, or of different types of flowers. Give them binoculars too!

The day doesn't have to end after your walk. Enjoy a picnic, take your "finds" home and create an art project or start a recycling center.

Most of all enjoy the time with your child, the fresh air and the moment you are creating together.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

We tend to only think of only using a pumpkin for decorations for Halloween or of making pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving time, but overlook the seeds inside!

Did you know that whole pumpkin seeds are a complete protein and packed full of wonderful nutrients essential to the health of our bodies? My daughter is a vegetarian and eating pumpkin seeds is a great alternative way to get protein into her diet. Pumpkin seeds also provide us with essential fatty
acids and minerals including calcium, zinc, potassium and iron.

This recipe was developed by my husband and his love of Indian spices and flavors. It is a delicious, nutritious and savory snack.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

4 cup Pumpkin Seeds, cleaned and separated
3 Tablespoons Oil

2 teaspoons Salt

1 T
ablespoon Cumin
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg

1 teaspoon Coriander

1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

Pour the oil over the pumpkin seeds; coatin
g them well.

In a small bowl, blend all of the seasonings together and toss over the pumpkin seeds.

Place the pumpkin seeds in a single layer in a pan or on a baking sheet.

Cook the seeds for 30 to 40 minutes; flipping them every 10 minutes until golden brown.

EtsyBABY© Sunday Spotlight - Scandeez

Scandeez is the place for children's items with a Scandinavian flair. You will find clothing, bags and unique items.

Baby Leather Cherries Moks
The best shoe for a baby is a soft shoe and these moks are made from super soft leather! The mok has an elasticized top for comfy fit and makes it harder for baby to kick off. Then when you are holding baby, everyone will see the cute cutout on the bottom of the foot.

Cashmere Security Blankie

How luxurious & special is cashmere? Especially as your most treasured possession....your blankie :) Backed this wonderfully soft fabric with a fun dot fabric in black, red and lime. It is trimmed in satin and just waiting for that special child to love it and take it everywhere.

The blanket measures 15" x 17.5". The cashmere is upcycled from a sweater. The dot fabric is 100% cotton.

Reversible Jumper

This adorable jumper is not only reversible with 2 fabrics but also can be worn with the wood buttons in the back or in the front. That's 4 different styles in one jumper :) In warm weather just put some shorts, leggings or a cute panty with it. In chilly weather add a tee shirt and jeans for a great swing top.

It is cut in a wide A line style for extra swing.

Connie also has another shop, linesdesigns, with an eclectic feel showcasing her prints, felted items and pet items. A portion of the proceeds from both shops, goes to helping animals.
